How to Complete Level Nine in the Original Zelda

You've collected all eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom. You are ready for the last task: make it through Level Nine and rescue Princess Zelda from Ganon. Head for Spectacle Rock, the twin rocks atop Death Mountain. Bomb a hole in the west rock, and prepare for your greatest challenge in Zelda!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Getting the Red Ring

1. Go two doors north from the entrance and bomb the west wall. Defeat the Lanmolas (giant centipedes), push the far west block and enter passage one.
2. Go two doors east from the other end of passage one to the room with the Patra (eye monsters). Avoid the Patra and go south.
3. Bomb and go through the east wall. Defeat the second Patra to get the map.
4. Go two rooms north, bombing the walls each time. This will take you to a room not on the map.
5. Defeat all the monsters, then push the west block to get to the stair. Get the red ring.

Getting the Silver Arrow

6. Return to the room with the first Patra. Take the north door to where the old man says, "Go to the next room."
7. Bomb and go through the west wall. Defeat all the monsters, push the west block and go through passage two.
8. Take the south door at the end of passage two, then the east door. Defeat the Lanmolas and go through passage three.
9. Go north from the other end. Defeat the Patra, then go down passage four.
10. Bomb and go through the north wall. Defeat the Wizzrobes, then push the center-east block to get to the Silver Arrow.

Defeating Ganon

11. Go back through passage four, then go north. Defeat all the LikeLike monsters to go through the west door.
12. Go two doors north and defeat the Wizzrobes. Push the west block, then spring the northeast trap to go through passage five.
13. Bomb and go through the west wall. Defeat the monsters and go through the last passage.
14. Defeat the Patra, then go through the north door to face Ganon. He will teleport around the room while invisible, appearing only when hit.
15. Stay near the door and strike your sword repeatedly, waiting for Ganon to come to you. Hit him four times with the Magic Sword (he will then turn brown). Finish him with the Silver Arrow.
16. Take the Triforce of Power to open the doors and go north. Destroy the fire with the sword to rescue Princess Zelda.
