Morning sickness is a common occurrence during pregnancy. A good percentage of women usually experience some degree of morning sickness, although there are a few lucky ones who never have this problem. It usually occurs during the first trimester of the pregnancy. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting and a general feeling of queasiness. The following steps may not help every pregnant woman as each one's physiology and reactions may be different. But they should typically help relieve the symptoms of morning sickness.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid getting up too quickly in the morning. Get out of bed slowly.

  2. Step 2

Leave some saltine crackers by your bed. Nibbling on light crackers before getting out of bed helps to settle the stomach.

  3. Step 3

Eat small and frequent meals. Never eat until you are too full.

  4. Step 4

Snack throughout the day. Avoid having an empty stomach as this will make the morning sickness worse.

  5. Step 5

Avoid foods that are high in fat, deep-fried, spicy or acidic. These tend to irritate the digestive system.

  6. Step 6

Stay away from smells and foods that trigger your nausea.

  7. Step 7

Drink water between meals. Crunching on ice chips will also help.

  8. Step 8

Relax, take a walk and get some fresh air.

  • If you vomit frequently, drink a sports drink to prevent dehydration.
  • Ask your doctor for a prescription for nausea if vomiting becomes unbearable.
