Train travel costs in England are up! It's important to find the cheapest travel options when visiting the United Kingdom so that finances will not limit your mobility and explorations. Here's how to find cheap train travel in London.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Book in advance. Have an idea of where and when you want to go.

  2. Step 2

Shop around for ticket prices and many different options. Prices vary with different ticket offices and if the first ticket office does not have the right price for you, try another!

  3. Step 3

Email or phone Virgin Trains or Great Western Trains, depending on where you're going. Look up the Transport for London Web site to find which service you need.

  4. Step 4

Ask for "Super Saver" options if they do not offer them to you.

  5. Step 5

Purchase two single one-way tickets if the "Super Saver" option is not available. It's cheaper this way.

  • The Transport for London Web site is very easy to use.
  • Keep trying for cheaper options. You'll find one in the end!
