Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Arrange wooden chaise longue chairs around your patio or set up a hammock for an even lazier tropical feel.
Step2
Accent your seating with a freestanding, thatched patio umbrella to remind you of dozing in the cool shade of an umbrella on a beach in the tropics.
Step3
Hang weather-worn ropes and fishing nets on the side of your patio, accented with seashells, sand dollars and starfish gathered from vacations to the beach.
Step4
Set pots full of lush tropical plants and flowers such as hibiscus or orchids all around your patio. Don't forget to hang some from the rafters as well. Surround yourself with the natural beauty of tropical islands.
Step5
Place tiki torches around the patio to light up the dark summer nights. Set out a tiki mask or statue to create a Hawaiian luau effect.
Step6
Paint your patio's concrete in a golden brown to give a sandy effect. Create a shoreline with shades of blue where the concrete meets the yard.
Step7
Buy or build a wooden, rolling bar for creating tropical drinks in coconut shells accented with slices of pineapple and miniature umbrellas.
