One of the best ways to make your skin look and feel better is to indulge in a salt glow. Receiving this treatment at a spa can be expensive. You can give yourself a salt glow with a few ingredients that can be found in your kitchen. Follow these steps to find out how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fine grain sea salt
  • Olive oil
  • Washcloth (optional)
  • Corn meal
  1. Step 1

Mix together fine grain sea salt, corn meal and olive oil until it has the consistency of peanut butter. One cup should be sufficient for a single treatment. If you want a coarse scrub, use more salt than corn meal; for a gentle scrub, use more cornmeal.

  2. Step 2

Take a warm shower, then turn off the water.

  3. Step 3

Starting at your feet and working upward, rub the salt and cornmeal mixture onto your skin in small circular motions. You can use a washcloth; but if you use only your palms and fingers, your hands will be wonderfully smooth and soft afterward.

  4. Step 4

Apply the mixture to a back brush in order to reach your back.

  5. Step 5

Scrub all the way up to your chin, but don't scrub your face.

  6. Step 6

Begin rinsing at your feet and work your way up. Then rinse from your neck back down to your feet. Make sure you get all the salt and cornmeal off your skin. Don't use soap. Instead, rub yourself dry with a towel. Leave some of the oil on your skin to moisturize it.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can vary the recipe by using different kinds of food oils or adding aromatic oils.
  • You can put the mixture in a small jar, decorate it with a ribbon and a homemade tag. Then give it as a gift.
  • You can use a large grain sugar instead of sea salt.
  • Be careful not to rub the salt and cornmeal mixture into any open wounds or onto any skin rashes.
  • Don't mix more than a cup or two at a time. The oil may become rancid.
  • Never use table salt.
