Your child's birthday is coming and they want to celebrate it with a "Blue's Clues" theme. With some planning and creativity you can throw a hassle-free party that kids will love. The key to any successful party is being prepared and knowing that no matter what happens you need to keep your sense of humor. Follow these steps to start planning.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blue's Clues cake
  • Light blue and dark blue felt
  • Red plastic pails and yellow shovels
  • Headbands
  • Hot glue gun
  • Camera
  • Blue and yellow crepe streamers
  • Black permanent marker
  • Poster board
  • Blue's Clues coloring pages and crayons
  • Light blue paint and paint brushes
  • Inflatable chair
  • Scissors and tape
  1. Step 1

Trace a picture of one of Blue's ears onto light blue felt and then hot glue a few small dark blue circles onto them. Cut the ears out and hot glue them to headbands to hand out as party favors as guests arrive.

  2. Step 2

Cut out and paint several large bright blue paw prints to place on your sidewalk leading up to your door. Make several smaller paw prints and hang them from the ceiling using clear tape along with blue and yellow crepe streamers. Hang them above a giant "inflatable thinking chair" which can be found at most discount stores.

  3. Step 3

Provide coloring pages and crayons to entertain the kids while they're waiting for everyone else to arrive.

  4. Step 4

Serve snacks like chips and pretzels in red pails with yellow shovels for scooping. Use a permanent black marker to draw faces on the pails. Quench the kids' thirst by serving blue fruit punch.

  5. Step 5

Make a cake to look like Blues handy dandy notebook. Cut a sheet cake in half. Lay the two halves an inch apart on a cake board. Use red licorice to connect the two pieces to look like the ring binders of the notebook. Use a tube of icing to write a message on the notebook such as "Guess Who's Turning Three."

  6. Step 6

Plan several activities using variations of popular party games like "Pin the Paw Print on Blue" or "Musical Paw Prints."

  7. Step 7

Take pictures of each child in the thinking chair holding Blue and send it along with a thank you card after the party.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take lots of candid pictures rather than have people pose. It's best to capture kids just being kids and having fun.
  • Plan more activities than you plan to use. They often don't last as long as you thought they would and you need to keep kids busy.
  • If you don't have time to bake, get a Blue's Clues theme cake at your local bakery.
  • Limit the party time to two hours for children less than five years of age. Three hours is fine for older children.
