1
Research the different paths to becoming an officer. Decide which one suits you the best. Decide if you want the Air Force to put you through school or if you would rather get your college or even professional degree first.
-
2
Learn about the different career fields in the Air Force. Not everyone is a pilot. They have space and missile officers, navigators and developmental engineers.
-
-
3
Check the eligibility requirements such as age limits and being a U.S. citizen. A medical exam will be required and candidates will have to pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test.
-
4
Research the college you would like to attend. Pay careful attention to the majors they offer. The Air Force ROTC scholarships are given out by major. Although the Air Force has non-technical fields, most jobs require a strong background in math and science.
-
5
Apply to college. If you are interested in both the Air Force Academy and an Air Force ROTC scholarship, apply for both. If you want to earn a commission through Basic Officer Training you must have a college degree.
-
6
Get ready for physical activity. All commissioning sources require their cadets to be in top physical condition.
-
7
Begin your application process on line at the Air Force Officer Accession or Air Force website.
