Respect your grandparents. Children have heard this line from their parents for centuries. The main goals in being polite to your grandparents are to help them feel comfortable and to show respect. Follow these steps to proper behavior the next time you visit your grandparents.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Greet your grandparents with an affectionate hello, a hug or kiss.

  2. Step 2

Show kindness. If you see your grandparents in need, offer to help them. This could be as simple as finding their glasses or cooking them dinner.

  3. Step 3

Offer to drive them somewhere or pick up something for them, especially if they are in need.

  4. Step 4

Be mindful of your body language. If you seem uncomfortable or anxious, they will notice.

  5. Step 5

Listen to your grandparents. You may have heard the same story about plowing the fields many times before, but if you listen closely you can gain new insight and knowledge.

  6. Step 6

Speak appropriately. Use respectful words and avoid foul language.

Tips & Warnings
  • Basically, put your grandparents' needs before your own. This is the essence of being polite.
