1
Start with a 4x4 grid. The conventional puzzle is done on a 9x9 grid but it is easier to learn and see the patterns with a smaller grid.
-
2
Make the grid. Draw a 4x4 grid on a piece of paper making the third vertical line and the third horizontal line darker than the rest.
-
-
3
Have someone put the numbers in the grid. For example, in the first column, 4321, second column, 1342, third column, 3124 and fourth column, 2413. After they complete the grid, have them give it to you with at least 2 numbers missing from each column.
-
4
Learn the rules. Each vertical row, horizontal row and block (made by the darker lines) has to have all 4 numbers in them.
-
5
Practice Sudoku. Once you get the 4x4 grid down, move on to the traditional 9x9 grid. When you master that, start buying Sudoku books.
