How to Remove Oil From Asphalt
Nothing is more noticeable from the outside of your home than big oil stains on the asphalt of your street or driveway. They are impossible to cover, but not totally impossible to lighten and maybe even remove. The following will help you in your efforts to a spotless driveway.

- Long-stiff brush
- Rubber gloves
- Hose or pressure washer
- Trisodium phosphate (TSP) or granular detergent
- Oil dry or kitty litter
- Safety glasses
- Old cloths

Place oil dry or kitty litter on top of the oil if there is any standing.

Allow it to soak up the oil.

Remove the oil dry or kitty litter.

Spread trisodium phosphate (TSP) or a granular detergent with water on the oil stain.

Scrub it with a long, stiff brush.

Leave it for 1 to 2 hours.

Rinse the detergent or TSP off with a hose. Start uphill and rinse toward the sides of the stain.

Tips & Warnings
Wear old cloths, rubber gloves and safety glasses when removing a stain.
A pressure washer may work better than a hose.
Oil stains are stubborn. You may need to repeat the process. Although this method may lighten the stain, it may never completely remove it.

I agree with wannaobamamama's statement. Let's be environmentally conscious. Either hose the oily mess onto grass or dirt or soak it up with more kitty litter. -
