Step 1
Use your fists, forearms, elbows and shoulders. Every tool at your disposal should be used as a striking weapon. Know the rules of the event though. If elbows are not allowed, make sure not to use them.
-
Step 2
Strike both the head and body of your opponent. Hitting the other fighter in the face is an obvious way to end the fight, but targeting the body can pay dividends the longer the fight lasts.
-
Step 3
Do not over extend your arms. The fighter on the bottom will most likely be looking to secure a submission of some type. This is generally started by controlling one of your arms. If you feel the other fighter maintaining control over one of your arms, watch for a submission attempt.
-
Step 4
Aim your strikes carefully. If your opponent is cut above the eye, then aim for that spot. If you can split the cut open more, then the doctors may stop the fight giving you the win.
-
Step 5
Use strikes to set up a guard pass. If you can pass your opponent's guard into half guard, then you will be in a better position.
