How to Scan and Print Photos

Scanning and printing photos at home is the easiest way to create your own photo projects. Scan an old photo and print copies for your family, or print off photos you'd like to use in a scrapbook project. Whatever reason you need to scan and print off more photos, use these tools to master the process.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Scanner
  • Inkjet printer
  • Photo-quality paper
  1. Step 1

    Open the software program that came from your scanner.

  2. Step 2

    Lift the lid of your scanner, place photo on scanner bed and close the lid.

  3. Step 3

    Press the "Scan" button on the scanner or in your scanner software program.

  4. Step 4

    Preview the scanned photo on your computer screen and check that the borders are straight and even. Rescan the photo if you make changes.

  5. Step 5

    Load photo paper into your photo printer.

  6. Step 6

    Press "Print" on your computer screen where your scanned picture is showing. If "Print" is not an option, save your photo to a specific folder and open it. When it's open you should have the option to "Print."

Tips & Warnings
  • If prompted, follow the steps in your scanner's software for successfully scanning photos.
  • Be aware of copyright infringement if you plan to scan and print a photo that was taken by a professional.
