Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eraser
  • Sketch pad
  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

Start with a circle for the cat's head. Draw two triangles for ears on top of the head, one on the right side and another on the left side.

  2. Step 2

Sketch two small circles for eyes in the upper half of the head circle. Color in half of the small circles. Draw an upside-down triangle between both eyes for the nose.

  3. Step 3

Make a small line starting at the bottom point of the nose and continuing about halfway to the bottom of the circle. At the bottom of the line, draw a U-shaped line for the mouth. Add whiskers near both sides of the cat's mouth by drawing slightly curved lines.

  4. Step 4

Outline the body as a horizontal oval beginning under the head.

  5. Step 5

Add four legs and paws under the oval body. First draw two small, egg-shaped paws a couple of inches below the body--one right behind the other in the front. Repeat for the back paws. Draw lines connecting the paws to the body.

  6. Step 6

Draw a thin, curving tail sticking into the air.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a pencil when drawing so that you can easily erase mistakes.

on 10/4/2007 It helps to place the small eye circles right and get them in the right proportion. Using a ruler, divide the width of the head at eye height into five parts. Do the eye circles one eye width apart, with another eye width on either side of them. Sometimes the eyes are a little larger but that would not change the distance between them, more the distance to the sides of the head because the fur might be sleeker or puffier depending on the type of cat.
