Replace expensive salon treatments and store-bought products with a homemade hot oil treatment that will deep condition your hair naturally. You can save money and get beautiful, lustrous hair with natural conditioning ingredients you probably already have at home, including oil olive and rosemary.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Pour 3/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil into a large pan. Add 1/2 cup dried rosemary leaves, stirring in slowly. Place the pan on the stove and heat over medium heat until the oil is warm. This should only take a few minutes—do not make the oil too hot.

  2. Step 2

Remove from the stove, and strain the oil to remove the rosemary leaves.

  3. Step 3

Coat your hair from the scalp to the ends with the natural oil mixture. If your hair is normally oily, only use a small amount near the scalp. However, if your hair is extremely dry, saturate your entire head, paying special attention to the ends of your hair. This treatment will do wonders for severely split ends.

  4. Step 4

Pile your hair on top of your head and wrap in plastic wrap.

  5. Step 5

Heat up a damp towel in the microwave for 2 minutes or until quite warm. The towel should be steamy but not so hot that it burns your skin. Wrap the hot towel over your head.

  6. Step 6

Sit for 20 minutes to let the oil absorb into your hair completely. This natural deep conditioning process is similar to the costly hot oil treatments at salons.

  7. Step 7

Remove the towel and plastic wrap from your head. Wash your hair twice with a gentle shampoo to remove all of the oil, and style your hair as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use this natural hot oil treatment weekly for extra dry hair. Use monthly for oily hair.
  • Utilize a clip to hold the plastic wrap tight, if necessary.
  • Be careful not to burn your scalp with oil that is too hot.
  • Avoid using blow dryers and hot irons on your hair if possible.
