Playing an instrument is a rewarding pastime and the piano is a terrific instrument to begin learning music on. No matter what level you aspire to, there are always beautiful and enjoyable melodies to play, and you'll never need accompaniment!

Things You’ll Need:

  • Book of fun songs of your choice
  • Beginner's theory book
  • Piano
  • Beginner's piano book

Step1
Go to a music store and look through the beginning level lesson books. There are many piano books to choose from, so take your time and find the learning style that fits your abilities.
Step2
Find a beginner's music theory book. This is very important in helping you understand the structure of written music. You will find that you learn your piano lessons more quickly if you understand the theories behind the music.
Step3
Set aside a period of time each day to practice playing the piano. Make sure that you follow through, no matter how much time you have allocated for yourself. You must keep yourself familiar with the piano and make sure the lessons stay fresh in your mind.
Step4
Treat yourself to a book of specialty music suitable to your level. It may be renditions of pop standards, Christmas carols or folk songs. This will spice up your playing time and you will look forward to advancing in your musical studies more than ever.
