Things You'll Need:

  • Backpack water filter
  • Water bottle or canteen
  1. Step 1

Pack the backpack water filter in the backpack in a secure location that is easily accessible.

  2. Step 2

Locate a water source which is safe to navigate to and unpack the water filter. Empty the water bottle.

  3. Step 3

Attach the outtake hose to the outtake nipple and the intake hose to the intake nipple on the water filter.

  4. Step 4

Place the intake hose with pre-filter into the water source and the outtake hose into the water bottle.

  5. Step 5

Prop the pre-filter up on a stone to make sure the pre-filter is not lying directly on the bottom of the river/lake.

  6. Step 6

Start to pump the lever on the backpack water filter by moving the lever up and down.

  7. Step 7

Remove the tubes from the water filter and empty by hanging upside down or gently swinging.

  8. Step 8

Repack the backpack water filter and place back into the backpack.
