      Research the United States Army Military Occupational Standards (MOS) to find the occupation that fits your desires for a career. Do not take this lightly for you will be attached to this job for a minimum of four years.

      Complete Armed Services Vocational Battery (ASVAB). This is an extremely important test. It should not be taken lightly. The area recruiter can guide you for the proper study methods to achieve the highest score possible.

      Choose a career path. The area of career fields in the United States Army are Engineering, Communications, Law, Computers, Medical, Law Enforcement, Finance, Administration and Transportation.

      Meet all United States Army standards and requirements. The United States Army offers very few waivers for conduct or any other thing that is not in conjunction with its standards.

      Review the service contract. Read the contract line by line, paying particular attention to Section B. This contains all promises or guarantees that have been by the recruiter. These promises include guaranteed technical school, enlistment and retention bonuses, length of service and specific pay grade information.

      Take the Oath of Enlistment. Repeat the words of the enlisting officer and thoroughly enjoy your service in the great United States Army.

  • When taking the ASVAB examination, answer questions in a timely manner. Each section is given a set time period.
