Abstaining from sex in your twenties as a male can be incredibly challenging. Finding a partner who feels the same way can be difficult, but it is very important. This can be a rewarding time though, because the end is in sight should you marry in your twenties. You have you a goal now, reaching marriage.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Respect yourself. You are working hard to stay abstinent you are now on the home stretch, stay strong.

  2. Step 2

Surround yourself with like minded people. Having buds who brag about sex will not help you. If you cannot avoid these people at least do not partake in their conversations.

  3. Step 3

Control your eyes by paying close attention to what you watch on television, look at in magazines and women you see.

  4. Step 4

Find a partner who is like minded and strong, she will help keep you on track. Respect her wishes and do not pressure her to give in to sex.

  5. Step 5

Avoid alcohol especially when on a date. Drinking lowers your inhibitions and may let a moment of weakness turn to a mistake.

  6. Step 6

Recover if you do make a mistake. Many times a man makes a mistake then gives up entirely since they have messed up once. Know you are human and that mistakes may happen. Learn from them and start over.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not let allow yourself to give in to temptation. Repeating a cycle of having sex and then trying to start over with abstinence is not true abstinence.
  • Read the book "Every Mans Battle" by Stephen Arterburn and Fred Stoeker.
  • Do not be afraid to remove yourself from a situation that is leading you in the wrong direction. If you do not leave you are likely to make a mistake.
