Things You'll Need:
- United States Navy Service Dress Blue Uniform
- Ironing board
- Water
- Hangers
- Iron
- Starch
-
Step 1
Wash the uniform inside out in warm water. This will give you a clean uniform to start the ironing process. This should be accomplished once every three months depending on how often the uniform is worn.
-
Step 2
Prepare iron and ironing board. Ensure you give yourself enough room. Fill the iron with water and place it on the high (cotton) setting.
-
Step 3
Place the blouse (upper portion of uniform) inside out lengthwise on top of the uniform. The first part of the uniform to be ironed is the sleeve. After a few strokes of heat are applied, then spray an adequate amount of starch on the sleeve you are ironing. This will give it a clean and crisp look. Repeat the procedure on other sleeve.
-
Step 4
Divide the rear flap into three equal parts. Apply iron to the creases in the flap. The creases should be crisp and much defined.
-
Step 5
Iron the rear of the blouse. Flip the blouse over and fold the flap directly in the middle. The best way for this to happen is to grab the flap by its middle crease that will center the crease on the rear of the blouse. Then apply the iron to make a defined and pronounced crease.
-
Step 6
Place uniform on a wooden hanger. This will enable the blouse to stay wrinkle free.
-
Step 7
Place trousers inside out on the face of the ironing board. Apply heat from the iron one leg at a time concentrating on the seam. Apply a sufficient amount of starch to get the desired crisp look. Repeat the process on the other leg of the trousers.
-
Step 8
Hang trousers on another wooden hangar.
-
Step 9
Wear the United States Navy Service Dress Blue uniform with pride, honor, and dignity!
