How to Make Ice Cream in a Bag

Ice Cream in a bag not only tastes great, but it an awesome activity for people of all ages. This activity is great in the summer when the kids are out of school and bugging you, when you need a cool activity for a youth group or for a birthday party. You can substitute different flavoring if you prefer a different flavor of ice cream. Follow these simple steps to make ice cream in a bag. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup half-n-half
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup rock salt
  • Ice
  • 1 pint size re-sealable bag
  • 1 gallon size re-sealable bag

Instructions

      Combine the sugar, half-n-half and vanilla in the pint size re-sealable bag.

      Seal tightly. This is very important.

      Combine the ice and rock salt in the large size re-sealable bag.

      Place the small bag inside of the larger bag and seal.

      Shake the bag until the mixture turns into ice cream! This will take about 5 minutes.

      Rinse all the salt off the small bag before you open it or the salty ice may get into your sweet ice cream.

      Add sprinkles, candy, nuts, or fruit and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you or anyone is allergic to milk, make ices instead! Substitute juice or juice drinks for milk.

  • You may want to wear gloves.

  • Do not double this. It does not work as well.
