How to Pack Without Wasting Space

Packing for a vacation can be easy. It feels so good to go away on business or vacation with a tiny suitcase, but still have everything you need. Also, if you go away and you want to be able to bring back souvenirs, it's very annoying when all you seem to be able to fit into your bag is your own boring old clothes! Here's how to pack in one of the most space efficient ways.

Difficulty: Easy

1. Lay out exactly what you want to take. Then discard at least half of the things. You know you won't need them.
2. Fold all items of clothing in half, lengthwise. Be careful that the collars are folded flat against themselves.
3. Roll the items up from top to bottom, so that they look like a sausage.
4. Stuff all items of underwear into shoes. This will help the shoes to preserve their shape.
5. Pack heavier rolled-up items like jeans and sweaters at the bottom of the suitcase, around the edge.
6. Put the shoes with the underwear inside them in the middle of the suitcase.
7. Place all other rolled up items in the suitcase, starting around the edges and working round until items meet in the middle.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure you roll all the items as tightly as possible. This will not crease your clothes. Folding them will crease them much more.
• Pack small sizes of toiletries instead of large containers.
