How to Finish Original Super Mario Brothers in the Shortest Time

The original Super Mario Brothers remains a classic video game and has been rereleased on numerous Nintendo game systems. The mission to rescue Princess Toadstool from King Koopa takes you through eight worlds of the Mushroom Kingdom. But you don't have to finish all eight worlds to finish the game. A player who has mastered the later worlds can then use the warp zones to get Mario to the last world faster.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Getting to World Eight

1. Finish World 1-1 quickly by going down the third pipe you see. You'll get some extra coins and come out near the goal.
2. Don't take the exit pipe in World 1-2, but use the elevator to jump over it. Run past it to the Warp Zone pipes and take the pipe to World Four.
3. Hit the invisible blocks under the blocks immediately after the first elevator in World 4-2. Use them as steps to release the vine from the far left block.
4. Climb the vine to reach the coin zone. Take the warp to World Eight at the end.
5. Run as often as possible in World 8-1. This is one of the longest worlds with only 300 seconds to finish.

Completing World 8-4

6. Go down the third pipe you see after you cross the lava pool.
7. Avoid the flying Cheep Cheeps in the third leg. Go down the pipe immediately after the lava pit.
8. Don't swim in the water world, but walk along the floor to avoid the Firebars and Bloopers. Go through the pipe at the end, and then head for Koopa.
9. Watch out for Koopa's hammers and flame breath. Defeat him with fireballs or run under him when he jumps and reach the axe.
10. Rescue Princess Toadstool and finish Super Mario Brothers. Congratulations!

Tips & Warnings

• A second quest will begin after you finish the game. The only difference is the Goombas (mushroom monsters) are replaced by Buzzy Beetles.
