Microsoft Excel is ideal for many different projects. Some of these projects become very large and viewing all the data can be cumbersome when trying to filter through a mass of data. Using different views within Excel makes this process easier. Hiding, highlighting and other view commands can be done with various shortcut keys.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Hide rows and columns using shortcut keys. Highlight the area that needs to be hidden and press the 2 keys "Ctrl+9" to hide the selected rows. Use the "Ctrl" and zero keys simultaneously to hide columns in the highlighted selection.
Step2
Make hidden cells appear by first highlighting the rows or columns before and after the hidden area. Press the "Ctrl" and open parenthesis keys at the same time to reveal hidden rows. Use the "Ctrl" and close parenthesis keys to reveal hidden columns.
Step3
Display the standard toolbar by pressing the 2 keys "Ctrl+7" at the same time. To display the help task pane, press the "F1" function key. Use "Ctrl+F1" to close the current task pane.
Step4
Close a specific workbook window by pressing the 2 keys "Ctrl+W" simultaneously. Use the "Ctrl+F5" keys to restore the window size of the selected workbook window. When 2 workbooks are open, press the "Ctrl+F6" keys to move to the next workbook window.
Step5
Access the menu bar across the top by using the "F10" function key. You can then use the arrow keys to go to the selected menu and the down arrow key to access a specific command in that menu.
Step6
Jump to the beginning of a row by using the "Home" key. Press the "Ctrl+Home" keys together to jump to the beginning of the worksheet.
