Things You'll Need:
- Large, flat surface where puzzle can be assembled
-
Step 1
Think about who will be putting the puzzle together. Dinosaur puzzles for very young children should have less than 50 pieces and the pieces should be large enough that they cannot be swallowed. Older children and adults will find puzzles with more pieces more challenging. Puzzles with 500 to 1,000 pieces can be very challenging as well as very time consuming.
-
Step 2
Select your favorite dinosaur. Brachiosaurus, Iguanadon and Brontosaurus all make good subjects for puzzles.
-
Step 3
Select three dimensional puzzles. The added dimension creates not only more difficulty but an added dimension of fun as well. Three dimensional puzzles can help keep older kids interested in puzzles and can even challenge adults.
-
Step 4
Select online dinosaur puzzles. There are some excellent websites like BillyBear4kids.com that allow users to assemble virtual dinosaur puzzles of their own choosing. This too is a great way to transition young children to using computers (see Resources below).
-
Step 5
Go to sites like eBay for a wide selection of dinosaur puzzles and other dinosaur related toys. You can find a great selection and often lower prices than you can at traditional retailers (see Resources below).
-
Step 6
Make your own dinosaur puzzles. If you can't find the one you want, there are many software programs and machines that allow you to create puzzles from your own picture repository.
-
Step 7
Select dinosaur puzzles that can be fun for the whole family. Choose an intermediate level difficulty puzzle that will keep kids interested while challenging adults as well. Somewhere between 250 to 500 pieces should be about right. Use the puzzle as a bonding exercise for the family.
