According to the science of numerology, the number associated with your birthday has great, unique power. Harness that energy by learning more about numerology. Everybody has numbers that are significant in their lives, and a birthday is probably the most telling. Numbers determine or identify personal characteristics that can help you accentuate your good qualities, avoid negative influences and associate with people who are right for you.

How to Understand the Numerology of Your Birthday

  1. Step 1

Determine your primary personal number. Start with your numeric birthday. For instance, if your birthday is July 3, your primary number is 3. If your birthday falls on July 11 or 22, you have a "master" number, which has special significance. Check a reference, such as Astrology-Numerology, since meanings can vary (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Reduce your numeric birthday if it has two digits (other than 11 and 22) by a formula called digit summing. Simply add the two digits together. If your birthday is July 14, add 1+4=5. Your primary number is 5. If your birthday is July 19, you have to reduce it twice: 1+9=10, and 1+0=1. In that case, 1 would be your primary number.

  3. Step 3

Understand the meaning of your birthday number by consulting your reference. Each of the "core" numbers in numerology, 1 through 9, have traits or powers associated with them. Now that you have your primary personal, or birthday, number, you can get insights into your personality so you can make better decisions. You can also find out about the people you live and work with, so you can improve your relationships too.

Tips & Warnings
  • Birthday numerology is great for beginners, but it's just the tip of the iceberg in relation to the whole system of numerology. Start here and get a feel for what it's all about. Then you can determine whether you want to delve further into the relationship between numbers and your life path.
  • Use one numerology reference at a time because terms and systems may vary.
  • Consult a comprehensive source for information on "master" numbers 11 and 22.
  • Numerology is not an exact science but an intuitive one. Use birthday numerology as a guide, not a finite prediction.
  • A professional reading should include several personal number assessments. Find a numerologist who offers both a full chart and reading for their fee.
