How to Take a Sudoku Tutorial

Although sudoku was a popular game in Japan as early as 1986, it didn't explode on the international scene until nearly 20 years later. With sudoku websites and books cropping up everywhere, it's no wonder a record number of people are looking for ways to learn how to play or to improve their games. To address this demand, many websites have now created sudoku tutorials that cover the rules of play, strategies and variations of the game.

Instructions

  1. Take a Sudoku Tutorial

    • 1

Decide whether you want an interactive tutorial or one where you simply read along and view diagrams. Interactive tutorials give you the chance to put your newfound skills to the test. Traditional point-and-click tutorials, however, may take less time to get through.

    • 2

Find out whether you'll need to download software and whether your system meets the minimum requirements for the program. You may need to have a specified amount of free space, javascript or a specialized program in order to run the tutorial.

    • 3

Pay attention to all the information in the tutorial. Sudoku is greatly based on strategy, and many tutorials cover the various strategies of the game in depth. Not paying close attention may cause you to overlook something important to the game.

    • 4

Take the tutorial several times, or until you feel as if you've completely mastered the content. You'll need to be able to have a wide variety of techniques at your disposal in order to become a sudoku champion.

    • 5

Look for additional tutorials as your play level increases. Tutorials aimed at beginners will not teach you all of the strategies of game play you need to advance to the intermediate or master level. They may also lack information about the different sudoku styles which can enhance your playing experience.

Tips & Warnings

  • Break the tutorial up into several small sessions if you feel there's too much information for you to adequately take in during one session. Not only will this give your mind a rest, but it may also increase your successes in sudoku as you're giving yourself ample time to fully comprehend the various strategies of the game.

  • Make sure you're working with a reputable site when taking any sudoku tutorial. You don't want to download or click on any links from a website with questionable morals. There's a possibility you could end up with some kind of virus on your computer.
