Slot tournaments are extremely popular with casino owners and players alike. Casino owners like to offer them because they draw people into the casino. Players like to participate in them for several reasons. The amount of money you can lose is known at the start. The "playing against time" factor makes it a very exciting game, and the fact that you are playing in a separate area with others who participate in the tournament allows for camaraderie. Finally, if you participate in a slot tournament, you may be awarded valuable comps such as rooms, meals or show tickets. That means you can come away with something even if you lose.

Learn How Slot Tournaments Work

Step1
Buy your way into a slot tournament by paying the entrance fee. Fees range from $10 to several thousand dollars for buy-in tournaments. Many casinos also offer free tournaments.
Step2
Limit how much you can lose by playing in a tournament. Each machine in the tournament area will be loaded with the same number of credits. Once the credits run out, your game is over and you can't bet any more.
Step3
Hit that button! All players start simultaneously and play for a predetermined amount of time. When the time is up, the machine locks, even if you haven't played all your credits.
Step4
Win the tournament by having the most credits at the end of play. Since tournaments are so popular and the number of machines dedicated to them is limited, there may be several sessions before the final winner is determined.

Once you participate in a tournament, you will receive notification by mail or email regarding future tournaments scheduled.
Step2
Show up at the tournament area about half an hour before the tournament is scheduled to begin. The pit boss will register you and take your entrance fee.
Step3
Get the number of your machine from the pit boss. All machines are identical, and players are randomly assigned.
