If there's anything more fun that getting a winning combination when you're playing slots, it's getting that payout doubled, tripled or even multiplied by 20. Even hitting the jackpot can be made better by playing a machine with a bonus multiplier. As Mae West once said, "Too much of a good thing is wonderful!"

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet account to play at online casinos
  • Cash to play at land-based casinos
  • Computer with Internet access to play online

Play Bonus Multiplier Slots

Step1
Know that a bonus multiplier slot machine pays out more for a jackpot hit with the maximum number of coins than would be earned by straight multiplication. For example, a Double Diamond game pays 800 coins as the jackpot when one coin is played. When two coins are played, the jackpot is multiplied by 2 and is 1,600 coins. The jackpot for three coins played, however, is 2,500 coins, a bonus of 100 over the single jackpot multiplied times 3.
Step2
Decide which betting theory you want to use. Some say you should always play the maximum number of coins in order to be eligible for the largest possible jackpot. One some games, you can get all three jackpot icons on the payline, but win nothing at all if you have bet less than the maximum.
Step3
Understand that another theory holds that players should wager just one coin, since your stake will last much longer, and hitting the jackpot is unlikely to happen anyway.

Play Other Types of Multiplier Slots

Step1
Choose a machine that features a multiplier icon. When this icon appears on the payline in a winning combination, the payout is multiplied 2, 5, 10 or even 20 times. At a 5X Play machine, for instance, three bars pays out 20 coins when maximum coins are bet. If one of those three bars is replaced by the multiplier icon, however, the payout will be 100 coins.
Step2
Look for machines that offer both types of bonuses. Wild Cherry, for instance, has both a 2X multiplier icon and a bonus multiplier.

Tips & Warnings

  • Choose your machine according to your personal preferences. Would you prefer a small, steady progression of wins or one big win? The lower the multiplier, the more frequently you might hit a winning combination. A 2X game, for example, will pay off much more frequently than a 10X game.
  • Recognize that gambling can become addictive. If you feel you may suffer from a compulsive gambling problem, get help from Gamblers Anonymous (see Resources below).
