Beating the house requires more than just luck. Many casino games require skill and a good strategy to win. You can win more and have more fun by selecting the right strategies for your casino game of choice.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know what game you want to play and understand the basic rules. Experience is essential to any good strategy, and a detailed knowledge of how the game is played will help strengthen your ability to use a good strategy to its greatest potential.

  2. Step 2

Understand that in any casino game there is an element of luck. Even with the best strategy, you may not win every time. Know what your limit is when gambling and do not put yourself or your financial situation at risk by over-betting.

  3. Step 3

Get advice from the experts. Books such as "Casino Tournament Strategy" by Stanford Wong offer advice on how to compete in professional casino game tournaments such as blackjack and baccarat (see Resources below). There are also many publications which focus on other casino games such as craps, poker and roulette.

  4. Step 4

Learn about the pay-off for different levels of betting, especially when playing slot machines. Most strategies suggest that players play the maximum coin limit for a higher pay-off--however, if the maximum coin incentive is not high enough, the player may be better off playing a low number of coins at a higher coinage value than the other way around.

  5. Step 5

Try out your strategy before you hit the casinos. If you are a poker player, host a poker night at your house. If blackjack is your game, utilize flashcards or other memory devices to practice your game play strategy.

  6. Step 6

Select tables at the casino based on your strategy. Depending on the game, it may be more beneficial to play at a table with fewer seats occupied than at a full house.

  7. Step 7

Use common sense to select the best strategy for you. If you are someone who easily reveals their emotions, don't select a strategy which requires a great deal of bluffing.
