Things You'll Need:
- 4 players, divided into 2 teams
- Standard deck of 52 cards
-
Step 1
Join a bridge club. The easiest way to learn and improve is by being in the presence of more experienced players. Many clubs have special meetings for those new to game, and you may find a club member to mentor you when it comes to strategy. Check out the American Contract Bridge League's website and click on the "Play" tab to find a link to listings of bridge clubs in your area (see Resources below).
-
Step 2
Download bridge playing software. There are several bridge games available in an electronic format, many of which include game play tutorials specifically designed to help you improve your game.
-
Step 3
Practice playing bridge online. You can find online bridge clubs and other virtual card games throughout the Internet, including popular sites such as Yahoo! Games (see Resources below). These sites generally host games for people at every skill level, including those just beginning. You may also find game playing tutorials offered.
-
Step 4
Read bridge game strategy books. With the game of bridge as popular as ever, there are many instructive bridge guides available on the market, many of which are geared toward specific learning patterns. People who have more success with visual or verbal learning will find techniques designed specifically to help them improve their game skills.
-
Step 5
Look for bridge classes offered by your local community college or community learning annex. Organizations such as the YWCA or the YMCA may also offer classes for members of the community in the basics as well as the finer points of playing bridge.
