How to Join a Local Bridge Club
The card game bridge is both a social and a competitive game, and local area clubs help bring enthusiasts together to play. Card players at all levels can improve their skills and knowledge of the game while making new friends when they join a local bridge club.

Join a Local Bridge Club
-
1
Ask friends who also play bridge if they belong to a club in your area. If they do, you may be able to visit as a guest before joining to see if you like the chemistry of the group.
-
2
Talk to local community activity organizers. Non-profit community organizations such as the YWCA or the YMCA often sponsor bridge clubs and are looking for new members on an ongoing basis. Depending on the organization, you may need to be a member in order to participate.

3
Visit the American Contract Bridge League website and click on the "Find A Club" link (see Resources below). You will need to select your state from the drop-down menu. A pop-up list of cities in your area with bridge clubs will appear. Select the city closest to you to see the clubs in the vicinity.
-
4
Determine whether reservations are required to join the bridge club. Many bridge clubs now maintain email as well as phone hot lines where an RSVP may be left with your intention to join the club at its next meeting.
-
5
Meet your fellow bridge enthusiasts on the appointed day at the specified time and place, and be prepared to play. You should have a basic knowledge of the rules of the game before you join, and you should ask the club if beginners or less advanced players are welcome.
-
6
Join an online bridge club. The Great Bridge Links website maintains a list of online and in-person Bridge clubs throughout the country (see Resources below). You will need to select your state to see which clubs are in your local area.

Tips & Warnings
Not every bridge club allows unsolicited members to join. If you don't know someone who is already a member, look for a bridge club that is open for new membership and is not invitational only.
