How to Drive to the Leaning Tower of Pisa From Florence
Pisa, Italy, is a small Tuscan town made famous because of a bell tower that leans. The bell tower at the Cathedral of Pisa (Duomo) has become a popular tourist destination. You may not want to spend a lot of time in Pisa, but it makes for a quick and fun day trip from Florence. You can ride the train, but if you are feeling a little more adventurous, rent a car and drive.

Take the toll road A11 (Autostrada del Mare).

Continue on the A11 for 47.9 miles (77.1 kilometers) on the north/westbound direction.

Pass the toll booth as the highway curves to a south/westbound direction.

Turn left (south) onto the SS1 (Via Aurelia) and continue for 5.4 miles (8.7 kilometers).

Turn left (east) onto Lungarno Cosimo I dei Medici. The road will change names to Piazza de Terzanaia. Then take the first exit at the roundabout onto Ponte della Cittadella and keep right onto Largo della Degazia following the road until the name has become Via Cesare Battisiti.

Continue on the Via Cesare Battisiti which becomes Viale Antonio Gramsci until you see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which is quite visible.

Remember that A11 is a toll road so be sure to have some cash on hand.
