How to Avoid Bad Carbs

Carbs can be both healthy and unhealthy. Avoiding sugar, white flours and sodas can dramatically improve your health.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Candy is basically pure sugar. Once you eat a piece, it will be digested and absorbed very fast giving you a sugar rush but quickly leaving you without energy. Candy is very high in calories and offers nothing in the way of nutrients
Step2
White flours are made by removing the part of the wheat that contains the most nutrients. Today, some nutrients are added back, but fiber is not which is essential for a healthy life.
Step3
Soda might be worse than candy. It is liquid, carbonated candy which is absorbed even faster. With its high calories, it won't keep you full for long and you'll be eating again in no time. Phosphorus, an ingredient in sodas, has been shown to be bad for your bones. This is important, especially in the older population.
Step4
Baked goods are more than one source of bad carbohydrates all in one food. They are usually made with white flour and plenty of sugar. Nutrients are scarce in both of these ingredients.
Step5
While dark chocolate has been shown to contain antioxidants, most people go for the milk chocolate which instead of antioxidants contains sugars.
Step6
