How to Perform a Cardio Kickboxing Uppercut Punch

The uppercut punch is a move designed to punch an opponent’s stomach or chin. In cardio kickboxing it is a solid workout for your arms, upper body and torso. It should be done with the weight of the body behind it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Stand in the front fighting position

  2. Step 2

    Keep the elbows in close to the sides to prevent rotational injury and provide more power to the punch

  3. Step 3

    Bring the fist up, rotating the body slightly to give the punch more power

  4. Step 4

    Rotate the hips slightly as well for power and balance

  5. Step 5

    Keep the punch close in to the body

  6. Step 6

    Return the arm to defensive position

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t twist too far or arch your back. Keep full control over your movements
