How to Perform a Kickboxing Jab

The jab is a very basic move of kickboxing and will set you up for the rest of the moves. It should be done with balance and control.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Stand in the front fighting stance.

  2. Step 2

    Punch the arm out straight in front of you.

  3. Step 3

    Keep the elbow tucked in close to the body for increased power and decreased risk of rotational injury.

  4. Step 4

    Punch through the target for maximum power in the jab.

  5. Step 5

    Balance is key. Do not lean forward, drop or raise your shoulder, or arch your back.

Tips & Warnings
  • Punch with the flat part of the knuckles.
