      Complete a degree from a regionally accredited college. For elementary-level teaching, your degree must include 6 hours of teaching in reading and 9 hours in elementary methods. For secondary-level teaching, you must have a recognized teaching major and 22 hours in professional secondary teaching methods.

      Apply for reciprocity if your home state participates in the Interstate Contract agreement, you hold an active license and you have successfully worked as a teacher in that state for 3 of the last 5 years.
