How to Plan an Off-Road Motorcycle Tour in Death Valley, California

If Death Valley sounds like the last place on earth you would want to experience on a dirt bike, you might be surprised. You may enjoy riding on rocky, narrow canyons and in the wide open desert. If you are an experienced dirt bike rider and have always wanted to take an off-road adventure in Death Valley, read on!

Instructions

1. Locate the Adventure Motorcycle Tours touring company, also know as AdMo-Tours at [phone] or on their Web site (see Resources, below). Select the tour for Death Valley.

2. Pick the dates for your tour. They generally run tours from October through May on a first come, first serve basis.

3. Book your tour. A custom adventure tour is possible. You can also add a day or more to any tour.

4. Rent a dual sport bike, if necessary. You can bring your own bike, but it must be a dual sport bike or a street legal dirt bike.

5. Confirm the dates for the trip.

6. Add more accommodations, if desired.

7. Ask about travel arrangements to and from Nevada. The tour actually begins 35 miles outside of Las Vegas and travels through Death Valley.

8. Finalize your reservations. Make sure your personal information is accurate.

9. Place a reservation deposit down on the tour with a credit card.

10. Travel to Nevada.

Tips & Warnings

• Most tours are 3 days long.

• You will need to know how to operate a dirt bike. This ride is for those with experience only.

• You will need to be able to ride for long periods of time and be able to ride on sand, rocks and hills.

• You may bring your own bike, but it must meet the tour company's standards and be a dual sport bike or a street legal dirt bike.

• Bringing your own dirt bike will lower your costs.

• A deposit is required for each rider. Discounts are available for single bookings with five or more riders.

• Qualified tour guides are included.

• Services include dirt bike rental if needed, gas, snacks, one dinner and one breakfast, a support vehicle for luggage transportation, hotel services, tour guide and route information.
