How to Travel Through the Baja Peninsula on Off-Road Motorcycles

If you have ever wanted to tour the Baja Peninsula on an off-road motorcycle, here are some simple tips to get you going on your journey. Happy trails!

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Transportation to San Diego, California
  • Ability to ride long distances in a short time span
  1. Step 1

    Set up a Baja off-road tour with an off-road touring company.

  2. Step 2

    Pack your normal dirt bike riding gear, including several jerseys and pants, goggles, gloves, knee pads, body armor, boots and a helmet. A back-mounted drinking system is also recommended.

  3. Step 3

    Arrive in San Diego, California.

  4. Step 4

    Meet up with your tour instructor. If you fly into San Diego, you will be picked up at the airport and taken to Ensenada.

  5. Step 5

    Arrive in Ensenada for the evening. Your tour will begin bright and early the next morning.

  6. Step 6

    Ride south along the peninsula, through Laguna Hansen Lake and onto San Felipe.

  7. Step 7

    Rest for the evening in San Felipe.

  8. Step 8

    Begin riding bright and early the next morning.

  9. Step 9

    Arrive in Mt. Diablo in the afternoon.

  10. Step 10

    Spend the night in Mt. Diablo.

  11. Step 11

    Head west to the Pacific Ocean toward Santo Tomas the next day. This is the end of the tour.

  12. Step 12

    Return to San Diego.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can rent dirt bikes and all riding gear.
  • You can make arrangements for longer and shorter tours to suit your needs.
  • Most tours are from Thursday to Monday, but special arrangements can be made.
  • Tours are cheaper if you bring your own dirt bike, but your bike must meet the tour company's standards.
  • Don't forget to bring plenty of money for drinks and souvenirs, your passport, a camera and plenty of film. Fuel and tools are included.
  • Tour prices generally include hotels and meals.
  • These instructions are for experienced dirt bike riders.
