Columbus, where the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers meet, was chosen as Ohio's capital because of its central location. Named after Christopher Columbus, it was founded in 1812 is the state's largest city. Columbus is also one of the fastest growing cities in America, making it a great place for business, family and tourists alike. Read on for tips on visiting Ohio's capital city.

Step1
Start your tour of Columbus at the Statehouse. Built in 1861 in the greek revival style, the Statehouse has an impressive collection of historical artifacts and artwork. Call (614) 728-2695 for more information.

Bring your kids to the Columbus Children's Theatre. The theatre's mission is to offer children opportunities for self expression through acting. The public is invited to attend productions. Call (614) 224-6672 for more information.
Step3
Commune with nature at Indian Village on the Scioto River. Indian Village is an educational facility focusing on Ohio wildlife along with Native American studies. To find out more, call (614) 645-3615.
Step4
Revel in the music of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. For 30 years, the CJO has been offering musicians a chance to perform in the big-band tradition. The orchestra is run by Byron Stripling, formerly with the Count Basie Orchestra.

Explore the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The zoo is dedicated to wildlife conservation and encourages preservation worldwide. The zoo also has a program of animal enrichment, which strives to create a better atmosphere for the animals, making them happier and more active in their daily lives. Spend a day in the Discovery District, where you will find many attractions. Visit the Columbus Museum of Art, the Thurber House (a must-see for any cartoon or "New Yorker" magazine fan), the Kelton House (where runaway slaves were welcomed while traveling the Underground Railway), the Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Relax in one of the district's cafes or rest in Topiary Park.
