Custom wrapping paper adds a personal touch to gift giving. You can make your own custom gift wrap very easily using acrylic paint and stencils. Making personalized wrapping paper with stencils is a fun activity for kids, too.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Acrylic paint
  • Scrap of cardboard
  • Set of store-bought stencils
  • Paint brushes
  • White butcher paper
Step1
Purchase plain butcher paper. Lay your butcher paper out on a large, clean, dry surface.
Step2
Decide which stencils you are going to use to decorate your gift wrap. Stencils can be letters, numbers or designs.
Step3
Select your paint colors.
Step4
Squirt a dollop of paint onto the scrap of cardboard.
Step5
Lay your stencil against the butcher paper.
Step6
Dip your paint brush into paint and proceed to paint inside stencil.
Step7
Repeat until your custom wrapping paper is finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • Lay down newspapers under your butcher paper to avoid getting paint on your furnishings.
  • If you want your design centered on your gift, cut the butcher paper and wrap the gift first. Then unwrap the gift and proceed to stencil the paper.
  • Do not use too large of paint brush for small stencils.
  • Do not wrap your gift until the paint is completely dry.
