1. Consult the State of California's Civil Code, Section 1793.22-1793.26. This portion of the civil code details the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and the Tanner Consumer Protection Act, the two pieces of legislation that define the state's lemon laws.
2. Contact the California Attorney General's office, or visit their Web site (see Resources below) to get a plain-language overview of the information presented in the California Civil Code.
3. Contact the Department of Consumer Affairs and ask about the Arbitration Certification Program and Lemonaid. Be aware that the State of California is not obliged to award you a refund of your legal fees as part of a settlement.
