Go to the Richters.com website to find a plant called "Piss-Off Plant" (sorry, but that's its real name!): http://richters.com/Web_store/web_store.cgi?product=X4490&cart_id=9034474.14754
Step2
Order enough live plants to have one for every three feet of flowerbed or garden that you need to protect.
Step3
When the live plants arrive, plant several of them in your flowerbeds to keep cats and other furry creatures away!
Step4
ALTERNATIVE/ADDITIONAL MEASURES: We also plant catnip plants in an area of the yard or garden that we are willing to sacrifice to the cats. They are drawn to the catnip area (even after the catnip is destroyed by them) for long enough that it becomes familiar to them, and if it is a nice area, they will tend to claim it as their new lounging spot. It helps if you pamper them in that spot, such as by laying down a nice cushion for them to enjoy.

on 5/10/2007 Apparently it smells really bad to them. It doesn't smell bad to humans, fortunately!
