1
Decide when you are going to visit Lake Powell. Boats are available for rent during the winter, spring and fall as well. Spring and fall rates are less than summer and winter rates are the least expensive. Peak season is in the summer.

2
Rent a boat from the National Park Service on the lake. Boats are available at the marinas on Lake Powell from the NPS. These boats are already in the water, so you will not have to worry about launching or retrieving your rental. Boats at the marinas tend to be more expensive to rent, but if you are not an experienced boater, the money will be well worth it.

3
Rent a boat from a local dealer if you are an experienced boater. Most of the local rental shops require boating experience before they will rent you a boat. If you rent a boat in town, you will have to transport the boat to the marina, launch and retrieve it yourself. A 2-inch tow ball is generally required for your vehicle. Most rental shops have tow balls available for rental.

4
Make reservations well in advance, especially if you're planning to visit Lake Powell in the summer. It's not unheard of to make reservations a year or more in advance. As soon as your plans are finalized, it's best to secure your boat rental.

5
Be prepared to pay a hefty deposit. Many deposits are $300 to $500. They can be higher or lower depending on where you rent the boat. Deposits are refundable as long as your boat is returned in good condition. Be sure to find out deposit policies from your dealer before paying for your boat rental.
-
6
Rent personal water craft and boat accessories also. Rental shops will also have jet skis and other personal water devices for rent as well as skis, water trampolines, wake boards and much more. Check the availability and selection of accessories with the rental shop you use.
