How to Take a Driving Tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway starts near Waynesboro, Virginia and ends near Cherokee, North Carolina. The 469-mile road winds through the stunning Appalachian Mountains and many charming towns. Take a trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

1. Plan for your overnight lodging. Consider staying in one of the four lodges along the way: You may reach The Peaks of Otter Lodge at [phone], the Rocky Knob Cabins at [phone], the Bluffs Lodge at [phone] and the Pisgah Inn at [phone].

2. Spend an evening or two under the stars. There are many campgrounds along the way, including Otter Creek, Peaks of Otter, Roanoke Mountain, Rocky Knob, Doughton Park, Julian Price Park, Linville Falls, Crabtree Meadows and Mt. Pisgah.

3. Drive slowly and keep an eye out for wildlife. Some of the animals you may see along the way are: white-tailed-deer, black bears, salamanders, foxes, groundhogs, opossums and raccoons.

Tips & Warnings

• Fill up with gas early in the day and don't let your tank run low. There are no gas stations on the parkway.

• Heed the fog warnings and use extreme caution when driving in the fog.
