Maybe whipping up nonfat, sugar-free cinnamon dolce lattes for unappreciative people is not enough for you—or just not your "cup of tea." You want to join an organization that works to make a difference for the environment and the planet, as well as promotes world peace. That organization would be Greenpeace—and there are various ways to become involved.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Go to the Greenpeace website, www.Greenpeace.org. This will take you to Greenpeace USA and there will also be a link to Greenpeace International.
Step2
Make a donation by filling out the online form and paying with a credit card or by printing and mailing the form along with a donation to: 702 H ST NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20001. You can also pay by phone at (800) 326-0959. It can be a onetime donation in any amount or you can become a monthly supporter. Greenpeace relies on individual contributions rather than on the government or corporations.
Step3
Check the website for job listings. Most U.S. jobs are based in Greenpeace's two U.S. offices: Washington DC and San Francisco. There are also jobs in other cities from time to time.
Step4
Check the website for Greenpeace’s volunteer opportunities at their offices or out in the field. There are also student internships available for both the fall and spring semesters. The deadline dates for applications can be found on the website.
Step5
Get on the email list to receive environmental updates and action alerts, and subscribe to Greenpeace’s online E-zine.
Step6
Become an online activist through the Greenpeace website by signing petitions, blogging, joining the discussion board and sending E-cards.
Step7
Raise awareness in your own community and funds for Greenpeace through programs such as Bake Sales to Save the Whales, by collecting signatures or by organizing peaceful demonstrations.
Step8
Follow Greenpeace’s tips to becoming a good steward of the earth such as buying organic and using non-toxic product alternatives.

Tips & Warnings

  • Greenpeace employs staff from all corners of the globe in their various national and regional offices.
  • In certain countries, Greenpeace provides action and non-violence training for those who are interested in becoming activists.
