A step-by-step guide on how to brush your dog's or cat's teeth. To view a free video demonstrating proper brushing techniques, please visit the Keep It Clean Web site at www.keepitcleanusa.com.
Choose a time when both you and your pet will be relaxed.
Step2
Choose a brush that is appropriate for your pet’s size.
Step3
Select a comfortable setting with the pet in your lap, on the floor or on a table.
Step4
Apply the Keep It Clean toothpaste to the brush. Remember never to use human toothpaste, because it can make your pet sick.
Step5
Using slow, circular strokes along the teeth and gumline, gently clean each quadrant -- top and bottom, left and right -- about 30 seconds each, reapplying the toothpaste in between each quadrant. Focus on massaging the gum line with an emphasis on the downward stroke.
Step6
Praise your pet with lots of love and give him a treat for a job well done!

Hi Lung,
You should try to brush your pet's teeth when they are already relaxed or tired, this way they are less likely to resist. You could try doing it after taking your dog for a walk or after being at the park. Since you want this to be a positive experience, start slowly by just rubbing your fingers in their mouth so they can get used to it. Gradually work up to brushing. Keep us posted and good luck!

My dog doesn't like it when I try to brush her teeth, so I give her one of those dental bones, but they don't work as well. Do you have any tips on how to calm her down and get the job done?
The Keep It Clean toothpaste is sold with the KEEP IT CLEAN™ Pet Dental Kit. The kit is $19.99 and can be purchased by calling (866) 302-2559. For more information about the kit, you can visit www.keepitcleanusa.com.
