How to Drink Ramune Soda

Ramune is a cooling summery Japanese drink that has an interesting twist to it. Seating as the stopper of each bottle is a marble which the drinker must push through to a small chamber. While innovative and interesting, these drinks can be a bit tricky on your first time drinking one. Don’t be daunted by the bottle and after a few easy steps enjoy a refreshingly carbonated drink on a hot summer day.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

1. Packaged with each bottle of Ramune is a bottle opener. When you take the protective plastic off the top, the opener rests on top of the marble.
2. The opener needs to be taken apart before use. To do this, you twist out the middle T-shaped part of the plastic and discard the outer circle of plastic.
3. Your first time opening a Ramune should be done over a surface you don’t mind cleaning. This is in case the Ramune accidentally spills.
4. Place the T-shaped opener over the marble so the T rests on the marble.
5. In one movement, firmly press down onto the opener with the flat of your palm. This will eject the marble into the small chamber below and cause the drink to fizz ferociously.
6. Keep holding down on the opener until the drink stops fizzing. If you do this correctly, the drink will not spill.
7. The marble now rolls in its chamber, allowing you to drink from the top. Discard the opener.
8. The chamber is designed with two indentations in one side to hold the marble away from the top of the bottle. Simply roll the marble behind the indentations to keep the marble in place while you drink.
