Sundance is located about half an hour from the base of Provo Canyon in Orem. The air is fresh, the nature breathtaking and the skiing some of the best around. Sundance Resort features skiing for all levels of expertise. Follow these steps to plan a day on the slopes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lift pass
  • Ski clothing
  • Sunscreen
  • Snowboard with a leash
  • Skis with brakes
  1. Step 1

Call to check road and weather conditions before you leave. The Sundance information line is (801) 225-4100. For road conditions, call (801) 223-4545. While snow makes for great skiing, it can also lead to hazardous driving conditions and can even cause the canyons to close.

  2. Step 2

Save yourself a headache and ride the bus to the ski resort. The buses pick up and drop off in convenient locations, and you will not have to trek from the farthest reaches of the parking lot to reach the resort.

  3. Step 3

Bring your own ski or snowboarding equipment, or rent your equipment from Sundance Alpine Equipment Rentals. Keep in mind that all skis must have brakes, and snowboards must have a leash. If you plan to stay for a few days, take advantage of multiday package deals.

  4. Step 4

Take a class from a certified skiing instructor to brush up on your skills. You'll find classes for all skill levels for adults and children. Choose from private, semiprivate and group classes. Prices are most expensive for private classes and least expensive for group rates. Call (801) 223-4140 for more information on class schedules, rates, reservations and availability.

  5. Step 5

Familiarize yourself with the ski trails and lifts. Do not attempt to ski any slope that is out of your level of expertise. Stay on the marked trails and respect the nature around you. Use caution on the more advanced slopes, since some parts of the trails have limited access.

  6. Step 6

Eat at one of Sundance Resort's amazing restaurants. Choose from four options depending on your appetite and budget. Dine indoor or out, depending on weather and your personal threshold for cold.

  7. Step 7

Plan a side trip to the Sundance Art Shack to escape the cold. The Art Shack is an area where you can unleash your creative side and take various classes from local artists. Learn how to make jewelry, paint with watercolors or draw with pencils or charcoal. Throw some clay on the pottery wheel. If you are a tourist, this is a great way to make a fun souvenir of your trip to Sundance Resort.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always wear sunscreen while skiing, especially if the sky is clear and the sun is bright.
  • Dress in layers so you'll be warm enough for a cold day but can strip off clothing layers as needed when you heat up.
