This How To article is my first in a series of articles to come. I am interested in helping other women (and men!) gain extra income by Selling, Sharing, and Showing the Avon Opportunity to everyone they know!
Watch the video "AVON, The Opportunity for You". Copy and paste this link into a new browser: http://shop.avon.com/avonshop/becomearep/video/video.html
If it sounds interesting, move on to step two.
Step2
Go to www.youravon.com and click on "Find an Avon Representative". Type in your Zip Code and your local Representatives will be displayed. Take a minute to view their sites. Whomever you feel most comfortable contacting, go ahead and send them an email or call. The Representative you contact may or may not be a Leadership Representative. If he/she is not, they will refer you to the District Manager, who is more than happy to get you started!
If you live near the Charlotte, NC area, please contact me through eHow. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY! I will provide you with a link to my site.
Step3
When you meet for the interview, you will pay $10 - $20 for the Start-up Kit. ($10.00 for my state, some states are $20.00) This includes awesome literature, DVDs, samples, a tote bag, and books for the next two Campaigns. You may also receive a free gift for signing up! (Keep in mind not all Leadership Representatives do this.)
Step4
Get out there and sell your Avon products, share the Avon Opportunity, and show others how to do it themselves! You don't have to purchase a ton of products to get started. All you need is your Brochures. They are your store! You'll have your OWN business!
Tips & Warnings
Be sure to write down any questions you may have and bring them with you to the appointment.
Have the Appointment fee in cash. When meeting someone for the first time, I'm reluctant to take a check unless I know them personally.
BUY EXTRA BOOKS! The more books you put out, the more orders you get! I PROMISE!
Limit yourself to a certain dollar amount for personal orders. It's true, Avon products are awesome, and it's hard not to buy everything in the Brochure. I limit myself to $10.00 per Campaign. If I want something more expensive, I wait a couple of Campaigns to get it!
DO NOT GIVE CUSTOMERS PRODUCTS UNTIL YOU GET THE MONEY! I learned this lesson the hard way...

Thanks for your comment oba. It's definately something to consider.
I don't agree with the unprovided statistics issue either. However, had I not invested in the eRep feature, I would have missed over $500 in new customer sales last year. My personal opinion is that it's worth it. I don't have to pay for it because I encourage my customers to shop my site. (It's free if you have 1 order, even if it's a tube of $0.99 chapstick.)
For other reps who may not have internet saavy customers, it would not be a good investment.

The Avon website is not fully developed. Avon is currently not providing Statistic for the sites. Lets put it in perspective. Not having stats is like being blind in a brick and mortar store. You can't see how many people came in, or what they looked at. You have no way to judge which is the best set up because you have no clue as to whats going on. Any free website you sign up for provides you with stats. This is basic ecommerce 101. If your going to sell Avon, don't waste money on the website yet, even if its free. They are the only ones who benefit at this point.

I've been an eRep since my first campaign. Now, you can get the fee waived if you have one customer place an order online. This past campaign, I had a neighbor (whom I've never met) place a $150 order online and have it shipped to her directly. Shipping's free with $40 or more order. So eRep definately does pay off. It has the invoicing tool that is awesome as well.

on 7/9/2007 The eRepresentatives that have a website available to them do pay for this feature. You get the advantages you are willing to invest in!
