How to save money on a cell phone purchase for any carrier!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • just a computer or phone.
Step1
Go to an online store like Mobilephone.com...I recommend this store because it is an authorized dealer for every major carrier and this is where I shopped. This a case of a deal that sounds too good to be true, but is.
Step2
Choose your carrier, your phone and your plan. Legally, you are allowed to keep your cell phone number, so I recommend you switch carriers every two years because new customers get the best deals. If you stick with the same carrier or extend your contract, I compared prices and they're still best here.
Step3
Why you save: the carriers spend billions in marketing. When a dealer brings them a customer, the carrier pays them a large commission, part of which is passed onto you. Plus, with no stores to support, they're able to lower the prices even more.
Step4
Convenience: when I got my new phone (Fedex), my old number was already in there, even though I switched carriers. I didn't have to go into a store, or call an 800 number.
Step5
Save big bucks! I saw the Pearl was $200 through Cingular and through mobilephone.com, it was Free. My girlfriend is on T-Mobile (yes, I'm in her Fave 5), and she got a Razr for Free, plus $50 cash back, plus a free bluetooth headset. Through T-Mobile, the Razr is $50, plus the bluetooth headset was another $50 or so...an amazing deal.
Step6
Most carriers have free nights and weekends for an extra $5 or so...it's well worth it.

Tips & Warnings

  • See what the price of the phone is through the carrier and then compare it to the price through mobilephone.com...I literally saved $200 on the Blackberry Pearl for Cingular. I got it for FREE, (with 2 yr contract) while through Cingular, it was $200.

on 7/23/2007 Mobile phones are one of the biggest selling categories of consumer electronics, and are going to continue to generate profits for vendors as users continuously upgrade their handsets to the latest designs. The cellphone market internationally is dominated by large brands such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, and Samsung, but there is still a lot of room for less well known competitors.

From this site:http://www.sourcingmap.com/cect-phone-c-980_1405.html,it also offer instruction on how to buy a cell phone.

In my view, there is one base way before you buy a cellphone that you should confirm that the function of your dream cellphone and price level you can offer to buy.

What is your opinion about it?

on 6/22/2007 Way too basic to be helpful to anyone actually needing help. An article should actually give advice other than "free is better than $200" - trust me, there is more to buying a cellphone than surfing the net for free phones. You aren't actually buying a phone - you are buying a plan and a contract (in most cases). Cell phone companies don't sell phones... they sell plans.
